The City is held a special election to fill an At-Large position on the City Board of Directors Tuesday, December 12. At this time no winner or runoff has been announced due to an almost 3-way-tie. The votes were as follows:
84 votes- Jerry Cavness
86 votes- Reid Carroll
84 votes- Karl Mounger
At this point we are waiting to hear back from the election commission. The usual next step is to have a run off if a candidate does not receive 51% of the votes. As you can see from the votes above, no one received 51% of the votes.
The form of government authorized by Siloam Springs is known as the City Administrator form of municipal government. The Mayor, Board of Directors, and District Judge are elected positions. There are seven members constituting the Board of Directors. The Board serves as both the legislative and executive body of the City government. A majority of the elected members of the Board of Directors constitutes a quorum for the transaction of City business.
