SERVICE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Salary Range: $22,788 - $34,128

The City of Siloam Springs is accepting applications for a Service Equipment Operator in the Water/Wastewater Department. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing water and sewer lines; operating light to medium construction equipment; performing maintenance on equipment and city streets, and brush collection.  

Applicants must posses a high school diploma or GED, the ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL License within one (1) year of employment, and one (1) year of related experience and/or training.

City Engineer

Salary Range:  $65,928 – $87,360

The City of Siloam Springs is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of City Engineer. Under the direction of the Community Services Director, the City Engineer oversees engineering design, provides technical engineering support, reviews private development proposals and is responsible for the administration of capitol improvement projects.  Duties also include resolving public technical questions and developing engineering solutions for road, building and utility maintenance projects, and supervision of personnel.

Education and Experience:  A Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.  Two years experience as a professional engineer in a government setting is preferred.  Must posses working knowledge of planning practices involving land use, etc.

Must be proficient in Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Auto Cad. 

Licenses and Special Requirements:  Posses a valid Arkansas Drivers License or have the ability to obtain one.  Arkansas Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Civil Engineering or ability to obtain within three months.

POLICE CHIEF

Salary Range:  $65,928 - $94,349

The City of Siloam Springs is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time Police Chief. This is a professional and administrative position that is responsible for effective enforcement of laws, ordinance planning, organizing and directing activities of the Siloam Springs Police Department and Detention Facility.  The Chief of Police works under the direction of the Public Safety Director and is governed by department policy, law enforcement procedures as well as state and federal laws.  

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Police Department. Implements, ensures and interprets policies and procedures as well as develops and administers policies and procedures. Establishes training programs, monitors performance and establish disciplinary procedures. Interviews and hires new personnel. Plans and implements PD goals and objectives. Responsible for coordinating law enforcement services with other law enforcement agencies regarding new programs, special department activities and law enforcement procedures. Assumes management responsibility and oversees the establishment, planning and supervising of all PD. Prepares and coordinates City Board agenda and work session including but not limited to: reviewing agenda with the Public Safety Director, attend City Board meetings, public hearings, and related proceedings to represent the PD. Reviews court decision and changes in legislation affecting PD operations.

Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, possess a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet departmental physical standards; have the formal education equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field; eight years of experience in law enforcement or a related field, including five years of supervisory and managerial experience. Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training as established by Arkansas Code 12-9-201or ability to achieve same through reciprocity within 6 months of hiring. Applicants must agree to reside within 10 miles of the City after hire.

CITY ADMINISTRATOR

The City of Siloam Springs is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time City Administrator.  Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the City Administrator performs high level administrative, technical and professional work by directing and leading the administration of City government.

This position is responsible for managing and supervising all departments, agencies and offices of the city to achieve goals within available resources; provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; provides professional advice to the City Board and department heads; makes presentation to councils, boards, commissions, civic groups and general public. Performs cost control, monitors revenues and expenditures, prepares annual budget requests, and assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, responsible for funds and/or equipment valued at 100 million. Appoints and removes all department heads, officers and employees of the city, except members of the board. Sees that all laws and ordinances are faithfully executed; attends all meetings of the Board, and all other duties requested by the City Board.
