Shooting at 1050 North Britt Street

At approximately 10:54 on Tuesday, June 12th, members of the Siloam Springs Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 1050 North Britt street in Siloam Springs in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers and medical staff arrived and located eighteen (18) year old Chance Cooper with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and hand. The subject was responsive and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Officers with the Siloam Springs Police Department began an extensive investigation of the crime scene and located several items of evidence. Numerous interviews with neighbors and witnesses were conducted and are ongoing. Persons of interest have been identified and the investigation is evolving and developing.

The police department continues to receive an overwhelming show of support from the community by their constant tips and information. The Police Department is optimistic that as information continues to come in and the investigation matures, investigators will be able to close this case with an arrest or arrests and a successful prosecution.

The Siloam Springs Police Department is excited to announce that it now provides a new way for the public to stay informed about crime in Siloam Springs. The Siloam Springs Police Department now has an online crime map called Community Crime Map that maps and analyzes crime data, alerts citizens about crimes in their area, and allows the Siloam Springs Police Department to quickly alert the public about crimes as they occur.

Citizens can view a map and grid that will list the crimes in their area, sign up for neighborhood watch reports that automatically email a breakdown of recent crime activity, and submit an anonymous tip about a crime directly to the Siloam Springs Police Department. Community Crime Map automatically syncs with the Siloam Springs Police Department’s records system to keep crime information updated online and in the Community Crime mobile app.

Community Crime Map cleans and geocodes the crime data, then displays all the incidents on a map, grid and analytics dashboard along with some basic information about the incidents, including the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date and time.
