The Board of Directors has approved a contract for drainage improvements referred to as the West Jefferson Drainage. This project originated nearly ten years ago due a house being flooded during an intense storm. The project will include clearing and re-shaping the drainage channel and lining it with a porous concrete blanket. This will improve the capacity of the channel significantly and also provide better access for city crews to perform maintenance. In addition, the culvert crossing underneath Twin Springs will be improved as well. The city has received a grant that will cover up to $549,532 of the construction cost leaving the city only having to contribute $47,862.30. Utility relocation work in this area is currently underway and the contractor for the drainage improvements will begin in mid-October.
