Storm Spotter Training

Storm Spotter Training will be held Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the Siloam Springs High School Seminar Room. This free training is intended for anyone who is interested in getting a deeper understanding of weather that can occur in our area. The National Weather Service encourages anyone affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, etc. who have a responsibility for protecting others to attend a storm spotter course. The NWS also encourages the general public to educate themselves on severe weather safety. The course will be taught by Ed Calinese with the NWS out of Tulsa. During the course participants learn:

  • Basics of thunderstorm development
  • Fundamentals of storm structure
  • How to identify potential severe weather features
  • Information to report and how to report it
  • Basic severe weather safety
