City Administrator Patterson did not say that the Arkansas Municipal League recommends having (City Board) meetings online and closed to the public as read in today’s edition of the Siloam Springs Herald Leader.
At the March 17 City Board meeting, City Administrator Phillip Patterson said, "As we talk about COVID-19 we got a lot of information from Municipal League; you’ve received information from Municipal League about how to deal with Board meetings and there’s been a lot of discussion Statewide about cities trying to have telecommuting Board meetings, which is prohibited by the State. The Municipal League was recommending that we consider postponing a Board meeting and not having it, or eliminating as many items on the agenda that aren’t required, that don’t need action. My concern is that we just continue to kick something down the road and not do that, but I want some feedback from the Board about how you’d like to see us handle this. We have a net metering workshop scheduled for April 7....
But I need to kind of know if you want to continue that because if not I need to let those residents know that we may have to change that workshop under the umbrella of, as you can see, trying to have fewer people attend the meeting, which is difficult when we have public meetings and we want to hear from the public. So I’d like to get a little bit of feel of how you would like us to go forward on that."
You can watch the Board meeting online, and see Mr. Patterson’s comments regarding COVID-19 at 1:20:00 in the video attached. https://siloamsprings.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php…
PLEASE NOTE- The upcoming Board of Director meetings will continue, with social distancing tactics in place. We strongly encourage those who do not have a vital need to attend to stay home. You may still have comments read into the record and have your voice hear by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org Please include in your email the request to have your comments entered into the record, and if you are responding to a particular board agenda item, which item that is, or if you just want your comments to be presenting during the public input portion of the meeting.
